GUNNAR’S CHARTERS
Welcome to what Gunnar’s
Charters has to offer! Captain Gunnulf Svindland offers full
day and half day excursions for fishing or sightseeing. Gunnar,
a true Norwegian and salt of the sea, has an innate sense to
find the fish you’re looking for. Kodiak ocean waters are
abundant in Silver and King Salmon, Halibut, Ling Cod and other
bottom fishing.
If you are looking for a
sightseeing trip, Kodiak waters are full of many species of
whales in the summer, the most common being Humpback whales.
Make sure you bring a camera for pictures of colorful puffins
and other seabirds, as well as a chance to see porpoises and sea
otters. For history buffs, army bunkers are visible on the
islands, left from the World War II days.
Gunnar’s boat, “Sea Breeze”,
accommodates up to six passengers, and provides top class tackle
to catch fish (although you may bring your own). Fully licensed
and insured, the 27’ Seasport cabin cruiser has twin engines to
get you to and from the fishing grounds. Lunch is provided for
full day trips. At the end of the day, Gunnar will help arrange
fish cleaning, processing and shipping with a local shop.
